Here's another one of Chava's Song... but this time LIVE from last summer's Wood Dragon concerts with the amazing Michael Manring. I hope you guys dig it.

I just wish Mr. Hedges himself had recorded this tune/video with Manring!

Enjoy. -J

Hi Jeff,

Great to see this clip.  I was fortunate enough to be at that performance.
Good to see it again.
Been meaning to ask if you have ever notated Chava's Song ?
(Especially the quick "hammering" section - the tab I have doesn't include that portion of the piece).
Now that I've finally all but mastered "Aerial Boundaries" & "Because it's There" that one is one of the next ones on my to-do list.

Best,  Eric Hartshorn (Oakland)

Hi Eric,

Yes, I've put my arrangement together in Sibelius... I'm not sure I can post it, but I'll check on that with Naked Ear Music and see what's up. There is a PDF, I think, up on the rootwitch.com site for the underlying harp guitar part as recorded by Michael, but it does not incorporate the piano part into a solo arrangement as in my version.

As far as the "quick hammering" part... that's actually my own tune and in a different time signature. I had to separate it on the album as a different track called "Silent Return", but it is the ending to Chava's Song the way I envision it when played solo. I don't think I ever actually put "S.R." into notation, but perhaps I'll give it a try. I have been thinking about publishing a book & online version of my pieces in sheet music form for anyone who's interested. I want to get it right, so it's a lot of details to be reviewed and refined.

I see lots of new videos on our Group (I can hardly keep up!).
I just added 4 videos from Luke Brunner (probably shot at his home) of both Philippe Fouquet and Don Alder playing OHGs recently.  Don is playing #164, which I'm sending to Japan tomorrow on approval.  Philippe is hard at work on his first HG album which we hope turns into a new HGM release.

Well, I've nearly figured out where those sub bass strings are. So, though my chops still aren't quite where I'd like them, I thought that I'd come out of the closet with a couple of my arrangements:

Thank's a lot Brad!
HGG7's videos: Incredible! I have sent the link on several European forums. Hope many people will look.
Tonight I will be recording an interview for a French fingerstyle radio. Of course the subject is harp guitar!
Good times for HG.

I saw Andy Mckee a couple of weeks and he told me he is getting a Holloway HG. It will be safer than lugging a Greenfield harp guitar about.

Hi friends, I send the link of a complete video reportage about my Brunner HG, my HG story and 2 of my tunes (both recorded on my album Turning point) realized on http://www.laguitare.com.
Sorry it's in French but the 2 last videos are only music.
All the best

Wow Nate, you were always good but that one is over the top. Well performed and nicely put together. We missed you and the wife last gathering so I hope you can make the next one. It is not on a kid’s holiday.

I can only imagine what you could play if you only had 1 more sub bass like I have

Michael

Hi People
There is a full concert with Paul Oorts and Karen Ashbrook. With the European Harp Guitar Festival just finished in France it seems fitting that this has come to light at the same time. I wish they had come to the festival as well but maybe next time...
