Thanks for your patience everyone; had to get all our ducks in a row for Venue, Hotel, meals, etc.  Registration (with hotel & airport info) is now open.  We will soon be getting a specific "code" to use for hotel reservations, so probably best to wait just a bit more for that, so there are no hiccups for you.

All - the group code for the hotel is "HGF", so give them that, and say you're with The Harp Guitar Foundation (not for the Gathering).

Thanks!

You can also make the hotel reservation online at http://hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/texas/hilton-garden-inn-dfw-airport-south-DFWIRGI/index.html?WT.srch=1 .  When selecting dates click on "Add special rate codes" and put HGF for "Group Code."

Done and done! Thanks Gregg and Frank. (Online is the way to go. I ended up with a busy signal at the reservation number.)

Today's blog includes a full list of resource sites and suggestions for other things to do while you're in Texas.  Sorry to get this going a little late...

Howdy folks.  Just wanted to remind everyone that you have about a month to make HGG10 hotel reservations at the group rate, which includes breakfast each day.  The cutoff date for our group rate is October 17th.  After that, you can still make a reservation if rooms are available, but it will be at the hotel's normal (higher) rate and will not include breakfast.  You can call the number listed on the HGG10 page or follow the online reservation instructions Frank posted above.  Hope to see all of you in Texas.

I'm working on "Here There and Everywhere" cause it is on your CD. I listen to your CD often at work. I am nowhere near perfect on that tune yet but I have a couple of other Beatles tunes ready. I AM GOING TO HAVE A GREAT TIME! AGAIN!

Yeah, but I cheat. I'm just playing backup for a hammered dulcimer. Much easier than playing a solo arrangement like you guys.

Hey, it's time for another reminder.  There is one week left to reserve your hotel room for HGG10 at the discounted rate that includes breakfast each day.  After October 17th, you can still make a reservation, but it will be at the Hilton Garden Inn's regular (more expensive) rate and breakfast will NOT be included.  There are still rooms available, so get those reservations before the rates increase. The hotel contact info is on the HGG10 page, or you can follow the online reservation instructions Frank posted earlier on this thread.  Come join us.  You'll have a blast.

Ok, gang.  Last reminder on the group rate at the Hilton Garden Inn.  You must make your reservation today to be guaranteed the group rate that includes breakfast.  I just checked and rooms are still available.  After today, the remaining rooms that were set aside for us will go back into the normal pool of rooms for the hotel to rent out at their regular (more expensive) rate.  If a room is available, you may still be able to get the group rate.  But, you may not.  No guarantees.  It all depends on availability.  If you try to make a reservation online and the group rate does not show up, ask for the HGF group rate in the comments/special requests area on the reservation page and they will see what they can do.  Same thing if you call for your reservation.  Ask for the group rate and they will see if they can accomodate you.  Hope to see everyone in a couple of weeks.

We're heading out at crack o' dawn tomorrow.
Hope our east coast friends can manage to make their scheduled trips - I know it's been touch and go there for awhile (still?).
Bennetts had to delay their trip until Friday, but should be able to safely leave town by then.

Safe travels!

Vickie, Joe Cullison and I are heading out in the morning from Georgia and should be there by around noon on Friday! We look forward to seeing everyone and checking out some great instruments, listening to some great music, and having a great time with some great people! (Did I say it's going to be great?) Yep!

Well, I had good intentions of trying to finally get to the gathering, but I'll be having eye surgery on Friday
So, I'll have to wait for reports and pictures.
Have fun everyone, as well as safe traveling!!!

Needless to say, Jaci and I are zombies (got home late last night).
If you were there, you know how special this one was.
For the rest of you, lots of photos and stories forthcoming.

It was a major disappointment that I couldn't afford to make this one so I'm really looking forward to experiencing HG10 vicariously through whatever images and perspectives you share. Hope next year's is closer and my personal economy improves.
Thanks Gregg!

Just a quick note to let everyone know what a splendid time Vickie and I had this year. Special thanks to Joe Cullison who shared the driving to and from Atlanta. (13 hrs. one way!) It was good to see old friends and new. You all know who you are but I'd especially like to mention new friends Sean and Robert from Houston and Jorge and Nicole from near Dallas. These folks were new to the gathering and performed amazingly well at the Friday night open mic. I hope that ya'll can be with us next year in CT. As a matter of fact, everyone who picks up a harp guitar at these gatherings is awesome! (I will humbly exclude myself as some of you reading this have actually heard me play ;-) The tributes this year were great. Gregg stunned Stephen with his CD project and had everyone close to tears during the presentation. The presentations to Bob Hartman and Gregg himself were well earned and inspiring! The shows were terrific and the jam sessions late into the night were... FANTASTIC! (Imagine, if you will, 25 or 30 harp guitars, two or three fiddles, a few mandolins, a couple of banjos, and a whole lot of people singing and playing the same song at the same time in a hotel lobby at 2 a.m. and you will come close. What you will still miss is the family atmosphere, friendship, and off the wall humor generated at these things!)

I could go on and on... the builders, the new (and old) guitars etc. the great venue and accommodations, and the feeling of family that everyone, and I mean everyone, shared every minute we were there!

Thanks to everyone who made this year possible. (I probably should mention Joe Morgan, our host, at this point. THANKS JOE!) Can't wait till next year!

Janice and I had a great time. So very good to see very one again, and meet some new 'family' members too! And yes, this was one for the books. So far I have weeded my photos down to 488 from 505. I have a show to hang music themed photos and two of my guitars in this Saturday, so I'll be busy with that. Once I have a nice set of pics from HGGX done, I'll post of Facebook, and send Gregg a CD of them. My plans for 2013? Quit wasting so much time on Facebook, and spend it playing and building guitars. I have a couple of ideas brewing I hope to unveil at HGGXI. Oh...and I just might start spending a bit more time on this forum!

Again, thanks to ALL of you for making HGGX great!!!!

It's been like a cave here...I just hear echoes, "hello (hello, hello, hello...)"
Now I understand; EVERYONE (almost) went to the 10th Gathering!
Irony of ironies; my wife and I thought going to this one would work because her sister and family live right outside of Dallas (stay w/them, she visits, I play...), and I even had the bridge reset on my Holloway in preparation.  But they had to move to Boston, and we have their two little ones (2 and 8) while she awaits major surgery.  So...
WHERE ARE THE PICTURES?!  The effusion of superlative goings-on (like Steve just did!), but with pictures...did I mention pictures?  Vicarious visual images to satiate all HG-related yearnings...
please

Whoa.....it happened without me again!

This time, I was lost in the craziness of family health/medical adventures (not quite crises, I guess, but close) that have been going on for weeks.  I surfaced the other day to meet with Jeff Titus, and was reminded that there had been a Gathering just happened.  I had known long in advance that I wasn't likely to go; still, it was a shock to realize it had happened already.

I do hope it was wonderful, and I'll look forward to hearing all about it!

Fred
