Great, Stephen!  We've missed you at the last couple.  3 other couples already booked, including Michael Hess (with daughter this time) coming back all the way from Germany.

Folks - our discount hotel rooms are now all booked.  They still have suites available.
There is also a cheaper hotel a few miles away.
See the Registration page for info.

PS: Don't forget to hit your "Refresh" button on your internet browser.

All,
The hotel still has plenty of rooms. But, you gotta say you're with the HGG group when you try to book a room ... because they're reserved for ... uh ... the HGG group.

Just made our reservation with no problem.  I wasn't sure if Saturday afternoon was a good time to try, but it worked out.  I told the guy who answered the phone I needed a reservation.  He asked when and I told him it was for the Harp Guitar Gathering in October and there was a block of rooms set aside for us.  He said give him a minute to pull it up and took it from there.  Maybe they've worked out the kinks in the system.

Look forward to seeing everyone in October.

And here I thought we still had a chance, Ben... (I hope Dave Evans can come too!?)

PS: lots of new blood coming this year, I think it's gonna another unique year (as always).
Michel Pellerin (and his wife), the builder of Claude Laflamme's HG, and also builder Tony Karol (both from Canada), rumors (promising but still rumors) of Mr. Carbon Fiber from Ireland, player Adrian Bellue, a couple new Tonedevil owners (and other new names to me), even "the return of" Stephen and Linda Warburton.
Don't be hesitant, folks - I just booked 4 more rooms for our Features.  And I do expect the hotel to run out of rooms for us.

Michael Pellerin and Tony Karol are coming!!! That is extra exciting to me. I designed my "super treble fine tuners in the bridge" after Claude's HG. Tony was building an HG on "Luthier's Forum" and we've had some communication over there. The Warburtons chauffeured me around a few Gatherings ago..super nice couple. Two of my HGs will be there.

Each gathering is different but jammed packed with new and exciting experiences and I CAN'T WAIT!

I'm all booked as well.  I took Joe's advice and not only said that I was with the Harp Guitar Gathering but that there were a block of rooms set aside for us.  No problem.  I just received the email confirmation for the hotel to confirm that I have our group rate.  Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

NEED STRINGS at the Gathering?  I have often brought string stock in the past, though it has become a bit of a hassle to deal with at the sales table (and expensive to ship there and back).
SO, if you are hoping to pick up sets or singles of any kind, please order now (don't wait until the last minute, since I'll be packing and leaving well before HGG).
I should be getting more LaBella nylon ball ends any day now. (9-12: just arrived!)

However, I do plan/hope to have some SB Tuning sets available (special new variations/brand to unveil), so those players may want to pick some up to try out (I am very curious, myself!).

Hi.....I'm Don Clark, from Cimarron, KS. Yep.....a newbie. And I'll be coming to HGG11. My harp guitar experience is minimal, but interest is huge. I've had an instrument in my hands just twice. I'm a friend of Randall Sprinkle from N.Carolina and tried his Karol at the Swannanoa Gathering. Then this past Sunday, I spent some quality time with Stephen Bennett and his Wingert at Winfield. He was gracious enough to share a lot of pointers re: getting started. No stranger to guitars, been at it since 1961 so I've seen the huge possibilities there are in the harp guitar. Ah yes, can't forget Muriel. Had two classes with her at Swannanoa this past July, and she had her 20 string with her. I'm sure it's nothing new for me to say "Wow!"

Looking forward to meeting you all in a few short weeks.

Got distracted with my intro post and almost forgot.....I'd like to know if there is any interest in working out a ride share of some kind from the Hartford airport to the Clarion. I haven't booked my flights yet, but will be flying in from OKC and should have my times together in a couple of days. I'll keep an eye out here and if I see some interest, we'll connect.

Alas, but complications force me to have to wait, and hopefully make it next year. Was pretty pumped to come to Ct., but it wasn't coming together. Just wasn't enough time to make it work.

A quiet moment with Stephen Bennett's Wingert last week at Winfield.....so grateful to Stephen for taking the time with me to share some pointers on getting started.

Seeing from Nancy Bennett at Facebook that the weekend has gotten off to a flying start. You all have a great weekend. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

You need to go next year Don. You missed Gregg doing the clogging/chicken dance. I think he practiced more on the Noble Harp Uke than his dance number.  Every Gathering is uniquely different. I enjoyed hanging out with the established and new HG stars who came to this event from all over the universe...and beyond... ooooOOoo

Hey Michael.....even from the little I've seen so far of this year's HGG (a couple of Brad Hoyt's photos, and one of the earlybirds at Stephen's), I could tell it was good. Really curious how the sound was in the room Sunday's concert was in. A fine selection of instruments lined up across the stage too. I connected with Chuck Thompson at Facebook, so I hope to see more. Be nice if there was video too.

Will do all I can to get there next year. Ended up sidelined some here with some unexpected heart stuff. Feeling pretty good now, but go to Kansas City in a couple of weeks for some tests. Roseanna Roseannadanna pretty well nailed it.....always sumpthin'. [rolleyes]

Trying to imagine this chicken dance. I asked Gregg and Stephen in a note yesterday if a location for next year was confirmed, but haven't heard back yet.

Good to hear from you here.

Hey Gregg, sure am looking forward to your usual stellar rundown of the activities at the HGG. Hopefully this next year will see a new HG, (currently in build), flying my way. The icing on that cake would be the next HGG out somewhere in the west... within a drivable distance.
