This is the bridge for my 21 string Harp guitar (Falco e Colomba) that hope to bring to the Gathering. All strings use the common bridge and the fine tuners for the super trebles are part of the design. The fine tuner section is removable for repair Super trebles are scheduled to be one of the topics of discussion this year and I am really excited about that...Dang, I am excited about everything harp guitarish! Dear Michael: I did quite the same. Prevent cold sweat when one of the tuners breaks (and one WILL break eventually) Cheers Benoit

OK.. My current Harp Guitar is done and the bridge is installed. This is some of the work I had to do to make this function properly. It is really too hard to do this again so I am still looking for a better solution. Here is the other end of the super treble bank. I will show the rest of the guitar at the Gathering. Michael

I finally settled on .014 for the super trebles. I hand wound them to keep the windings off the saddle. There is a slight string break at the bridge so the super trebles don't have to work too hard. The string break at the other end or tuning pins is more extreme and this produces the sound I was planning on. I can raise the saddle for the super trebles but I don't need to. Michael

I think I forgot to show pics of the finished instrument so here they are. The other guitar is a 7 string I finished at the same time as the HG. The 7 string inspiration came from our gathering 10 Russian guest 2 years ago. Michael

Thanks guys. I build whatever I am in the mood to build but it has got to play well and be a piece of art (3 harp guitars plus a bunch of other instruments so far). As documented on this site, I purchased and rebuilt a 1906 Gibson harp guitar. I think it is the most beautiful instrument ever built. Now I am building the second most beautiful guitar (to me). It's a Gibson Style o like this one... http://inlowguitars.com/archtop-acoustic/gibson-style-0-artist-1921/ . I am building this one from scratch because there aren't any "Luthier's project" Style o guitars out there. Vintage is nice but if you can build something new or even better then why not. I have wood to build 4 more harp guitars but I have to stop everything for awhile to attend to my very ill wife. Michael

Michael, That harp guitar is beautiful....thank you for bringing that one into the world! I know how important it is to take care of one's life partner; I've done a lot of that myself, and struggled with trying to find a balance where I get my own work done, too. I'm blessed that Suzy is also a fine luthier (violin builder, and actually made one of my favorite guitars in the world about 30 years ago), so when she's able to work, we sometimes get the joy of working together. But the hard times are hard; I wish the best for you and your wife, in whatever form that might come to you! Fred

Thanks Jon. I wanted to keep this one for awhile but sold it to a really perfectly matched new owner at Harp Guitar Gathering #14. Michael

Wonderful! I love the turquoise in the fish, and I also really like the cutaway.
