My guess is that he coated the interior braces and corners with hide glue!

I thought that I was  done with the Coulter project and toddled off to help my daughter move to Texas, but when I returned I found that the main neck bridge had lifted! So back to the workbench it went. I worked the bridge the rest of the way off, (photos 1 & 2) and reglued (photo 3). Back in business now!

Since I had the Coulter on the workbench again, I decided to add a Schatten dual volume control to the electronics. These things are great! Very inconspicuous and don't color the tone of the pickups at all. Check them out if you want to add onboard controls to a vintage instrument! I can now balance the output between the main neck and sub-bass pickups.
