Dear Harp Guitarites,

Thanks to all of you who attended HGG9. Your enthusiasm, helpfulness, and willingness to laugh every time I so much as mentioned Gregg's name made for an extraordinary weekend.

Thanks!

Hello John,

Thanks for hosting HGG9 with Stephen. It was a great three days: the location, the weather, the venue, all the HG people, and the music. Wow!

It was long overdue but I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my first HGG. I would mention the names of some of the wonderful people I met and got to break bread with but I would be afraid to offend those that I left out. The concerts were a highlight for me and I can't fathom how some of these folks aren't household names.

People I met at the gathering were uniformly warm and friendly and I also got to try out countless outstanding HG's. I emailed luthier Allan Beardsell within days of returning home from HGG9 and he indicated that he was seriously considering coming to HGG10 in Dallas. I've got a lot of time in the woodshed ahead of me to get ready for the next gathering!

I would be remiss in not mentioning the hard work that Jaci Rohr, Nancy Bennett and Linda Morgan did in front of and behind the scenes. Not that Gregg, Stephen or Joe were slacking in any way, but those ladies are the stealth weapon behind the HGG.

Thanks for the kind words Ben. It was equally a pleasure to meet you. You're an insane and wonderful builder of insane and wonderful instruments(almost but not quite as insane as Fred Carlson. I've never met him so I can't vouch for his insanity but whose instruments are more insane than Fred's!).

I should add that you have a phenomenal resource in Dave Evans. His archtop HG was outstanding. If I had known that he was the fantastic 6 string player behind the album "Sad Pig Dance" I would have been too intimidated to talk to him. I believe that Dave's tuning on that recording was a major inspiration for El McMeen. For those not familiar with El's music, he has a soft, deft, gentle touch that puts me in mind of Pete Bradshaw's playing on his superb Wingert HG.

Hi Esau,

Just wanted to say that your HG was most impressive and I wish I had more time to talk with you and get a chance to play it... I'm planning on attending HGGX so perhaps I'll see you there.

I really had a great time this year and am glad I stayed a little longer than usual.  John did a fantastic job in putting the weekend together.  It is wonderful that even after 9 years we can come up with new things to do like the workshops and the xray lecture.  It was an honor to perform at the saturday concert, open mic, and round robin.  I enjoyed the company of new friends and old buddies. Likewise had the opportunity to play some amazing instruments and even fondle a mermermermaid! looking forward to next year in dallas! just have to learn water is wide in Db....

Thanks Brad. I really enjoyed the Beatles rendition that you and Stephen put together for the sunday performance. It was also great to meet and hang out a bit with Nate and Michael. Michael, your harp guitar had a wonderful sound and played great. I'm jealous of your talent. Nate, I enjoyed your performance on sunday as well. I look forward to hearing "The Water is Wide" in Db Ab Db Gb Ab Db tuning!

Oh, Esau.. I thought you were confused about the correct flat chords for Water is Wide. I just realized you meant dadgad tuning that Nate uses .

Hey, your guitar was a VERY big hit at the gathering. Thanks for your kind words about mine. Yep, fun hangin' out.
Michael

Michael, you should change your avatar to a picture of your latest HG build. Just my 2 cents.

Ok.. Is this avatar ok? The beauty of my face takes away from the beauty of my guitar but I can't help that.
