The future of the harp guitar is secure (was there ever any doubt?).

We're doing it!   Though I have always run Harpguitars.net as a labor-of-love, this year we are becoming an official Non-Profit entity.  The ever-prolific John Thomas very generously donated his professional experience and services and drafted our Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, and we're now waiting to receive the official 501(c)(3) Non-Profit status designation, which can take several months for approval.  As hinted at in earlier postings, once we are approved, all donors should be able to write off their charitable contributions - so feel free to hold off on any new or renewed donations (professional musicians should be writing off their donations as "HG.net Membership Dues" already).  And as a formal entity, we hope to be able to count on more significant donations.  All this will mean a larger pool of funds for the cause.

And what is the cause?  Essentially what I've stated all along at the top of Harpguitars.net - Serving the world's harp guitar community, preserving the history and promoting the instrument).  And with the incredible growth of the harp guitar community and our cause, we realized that a more professional and prestigious public perception was merited, and so my wife Jaci suggested the new name.

The Harp Guitar Foundation (THGF) will reside on Harpguitars.net, as does the Harp Guitar Gathering.  However, the Foundation will become the conduit for all donations.  Donors may automatically become Harpguitars.net Members if they wish (not Foundation members).  The remaining balance of funds from all of your past subscriptions and donations will form the initial cash assets of the Foundation.  These and future funds will continue to be used to support the Harpguitars.net archival website, along with the Foundation infrastructure itself, and something else equally important, helping to fund and expand the annual Harp Guitar Gathering.

Once we receive our Non-Profit status there will be a formal announcement and posting of the Foundation's directors and advisers, plans and goals.

Prepare yourself for the harp guitar future!

Congratulations Gregg !
I know this has been a    l - o - n - g     time coming.
Can't wait to see where this brings everything in the future.
(Especially considering how much you have done all these years virtually single-handedly).
Hope this finally makes it easier for you to enlist assistance of others so
the Harp-Guitar Widow (aka- pope's-wife ? /Jacqui) might actually see you on occasion..

Best,

     -Eric H...

It was a real pleasure to lend my modest skills to a worthy cause and an honor to have a hand in expanding the Pope's realm.

In other exciting news, "Harp Guitar Gathering" is now a registered trademark!
So you may now notice a little HTML clipboard ® after it in most places.  Filed by our legal aid John Thomas on behalf of The Harp Guitar Foundation, and just approved.
